“Notes on Acts ch. 1, 2, 3, 4” by me.

“Notes on Acts ch. 1, 2, 3, 4” by me.

1) Preaching Christ crucified.
2) Preaching Christ risen/raised from the dead.
3) Preaching (calling to) repentance.

Acts 1:3,22
“3) To whom also He showed Himself alive after His passion by many infallible proofs, being seen by them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:
22) Beginning from the baptism of John, to that same day that He was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us of His resurrection.”

Acts 2:23-24,30-32,36,38
“23) Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, you have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
24) Whom God has raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that He should be held by it.
30) Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, He would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
31) He seeing this before spoke of the resurrection of Christ, that His soul was not left in hell, neither His flesh did see corruption.
32) This Jesus has God raised up, of which we all are witnesses.
36) Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God has made that same Jesus, Whom you have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
38) Then Peter said to them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Acts 3:15,19,26
“15) And killed the Prince of life, whom God has raised from the dead; of which we are witnesses.
19) Repent therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing will come from the presence of the Lord;
20) And He will send Jesus Christ, Who before was preached to you:
26) To you first God, having raised up His Son Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.”

Acts 4:2,10,33
“2) Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
10) Be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Whom you crucified, Whom God raised from the dead, even by Him does this man stand here before you whole.
33) And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was on them all.”

4) Preaching prophetic fulfilment/ fulfilled prophecies. Prophecies fulfilled by Christ & in the apostolic age & in the future.
Acts 1:5,8,11,16,20
“5) For John truly baptized with water; but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.
8) But you will receive power, after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you: and you will be witnesses to Me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth.
11) Which also said, You men of Galilee, why stand you gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, Which is taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you have seen Him go into heaven.
16) Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spoke before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.
20) For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his dwelling be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.”

Acts 2:16,25-29,30-35.
“16) But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; (+17-21).
25) For David speaks concerning Him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for He is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: (+v.26-29).
30) Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne; (+v.31-35)

Acts 3:18-26
“18) But those things, which God before had showed by the mouth of all His prophets, that Christ should suffer, He has so fulfilled.
19) Repent therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing will come from the presence of the Lord;
20) And he will send Jesus Christ, which before was preached to you:
21) Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.
22) For Moses truly said to the fathers, A Prophet will the Lord your God raise up to you of your brethren, similar to me; Him will you hear in all things wharever He will say to you.
23) And it will come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that Prophet, will be destroyed from among the people.
24) Yes, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.
25) You are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, And in your seed will all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.
26) To you first God, having raised up His Son Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.”

Acts 4:11,25-28
“11) This is the Stone which was set at nothing of you builders, which has become the head of the corner.
25) Who by the mouth of Your servant David has said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?
26) The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against His Christ.
27) For of a truth against Your holy Child Jesus, Whom You have anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,
28) To do whatever Your hand and Your counsel determined before to be done.”

Opposition to Jesus, His teaching & His disciples.
Acts 4:2,16-18,21,26-27,29
“2) Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
16) Saying, What will we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle has been done by them is manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem; and we cannot deny it.
17) But that it spread no further among the people, let us sternly threaten them, that they speak from now on to no man in this name.
18) And they called them, and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.
21) So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.

“Here Blind To What’s There”

Written by: Victor P.

“Here Blind To What’s There”

Here blind to what’s there,
Every fact not made evident,
Every conclusion’s imperfect,
Every judgment’s biased.

Every eye grows myopic,
Every stare’s prejudiced,
Stops at soul’s window,
Offers but a blurry view
And one can’t see further in,
Just outer symptoms of sin.

Sunday Praise (122) 1/3/21

Sunday Praise (122) 1/3/21. by me.

A new year has already begun,
We look back on the last one
And see the truth we won’t deny:
You’ve been with us every day.

The old year is gone,
We must ask ourselves:
Are we wiser people?
Are we more like Christ?

I know the power of the stream
Of Christ’s blood flowing down
From the Cross on Calvary’s hill;
Truly, there is no greater blood!

Lord Jesus, Your precious blood
Flows from the Cross for sinners,
You shed it, none deserved it,
How great is Your love, Master.

Can time wait for a sinner
To come to You, Savior?
It’s foolish to take for granted
What You’ve given to each of us.

The earth is full of Your mercy,
Your love humbles me, Lord,
You have saved me, Savior,
Glory in the highest, hallelujah.

You’ve done something great,
None of us will deny it, Lord,
You’ve delivered us from sin,
You have saved us, dear Jesus.

We reap what we sow,
We do not yet know
What tomorrow holds
But we know You hold it.

Lord, You are my peace,
You are my salvation,
May praise never cease
To You in every nation.

How much have You done!
It humbles me to know
You love me every moment,
You know everything, Lord.

Blessed is the person
Who fears You, o Lord,
Who walks in Your ways,
Who trusts You always.

How wonderful it is
To know You love us,
To daily seek Your face,
To love and serve You.

Lord, how many times
You have led me through
Difficult times and trials,
You’ve always been with me.

To bless a person
In Your holy name,
It’s something wonderful,
An honor and a privilege.

You have heard me
When I called out
From the dark depths,
You answered my prayers.

Father, Your holy name,
My soul hopes in daily,
There’s no one else I trust
More than You, my Redeemer.

Teach me to humble, Lord,
I lack still what I need to
Know and do every day,
Help me, Father, glory to You.

I am a child of Yours, yes,
But I’ve a long way to go
Before I am where I should be,
More and like Christ, help me.

Stand in the place of Your rest,
In Your holy temple, Master,
You who is forevermore blessed,
Sovereign King, Immortal, Eternal.

You’ve saved the least of us,
Your mercy amazes so many,
Your grace pours down like rain
And humbles us, Savior, Jesus.

How good it is to live
In fellowship with others
Who desire with their hearts
To serve You, to obey Your will.

I long to bring You more
Glory, honor, and fame,
For, Lord, You are worthy
Of it all, yes, only You, God.

When I’m in Your temple,
I stand in Your presence,
Lord, there’s nowhere else
I want to be, hallelujah.

I will lift my hands up
And bless Your holy name
For Your just and loving,
Kind, righteous, merciful.

We will give You glory
For You are the greatest,
There is no one like You
And there never will be.

God, Your name is forever
And the memory of You
Will endure through generations
For You alone are God Almighty.

We praise You for You are good
And Your mercy endures forever,
Truly, there is no other Savior,
Only You, Lord Jesus Christ.

So many times in the past
You have rescued Your people
And even to this very day
You still rescue, You still save.

Sunday Praise (77) 2/23/20

Sunday Praise (77) 2/23/20. by me.

How wonderful it is
To know You, Savior,
You’re living and true,
You are God Almighty.

I think of Heaven,
What it’ll be like there,
No more sickness,
No pain and no death.

I wonder how long
Until I will meet You
In Heaven, my God,
My heavenly Father.

You’ll return one day,
King of Kings, Jesus,
You will take us home
To be with You in Heaven.

My soul will answer Your call,
I will sing Heaven’s melody,
My heart will ever rejoice
In You, my God, my Father.

I’m a pilgrim here,
A stranger, a sojourner,
This is not my home,
God, You are my home.

I see You in creation,
It points to You, Creator,
I witness Your deeds,
I will praise You, Lord.

Christ, Your holy name
Is dear to me, Jesus,
I will praise You here
And in eternity forever.

I want to always dwell
Under Your wings, God,
You are my Protector,
There’s no one better.

You alone are God,
There’s none beside You,
There’s no one like You,
You are unchanging.

We are Your children,
You are our Father,
Master and Savior,
Redeemer and Friend.

We are not ashamed
To know You, O Lord,
To believe in You,
To trust in You, God.

Who can stand against You?
You alone are God Almighty,
All enemies will fall before You,
You are Sovereign over all, God.

Help us to remember
You are King of kings,
You are Lord of lords,
You are our Deliverer.

When heart and flesh
Seek Your presence,
What a wonderful time,
What a blessing it is.

Lord, blessed is the one
Whose strength is in You,
Whose steps are directed
On Your holy way, Master.

You are my sun and shield,
A present help in troubles,
Blessed are those who trust You,
Who obey Your will, God Almighty.

You have forgiven
My sins, dear Savior,
You have rescued me
From Hell, from damnation.

God, You show mercy
To those who fear You,
Your goodness toward us
Is seen daily, heavenly Father.

You have rescued me
More times than I count,
You are my salvation
And You are my Savior.

God, I lift up my soul
To You who made it,
I will call on Your name,
I know You will hear me.

Surely it will be one day
Every nation shall bow
To You, Sovereign King,
And glorify You, Christ.

I will praise You, Lord,
With my heart and soul,
With the voice You’ve given,
With these lips You’ve made.

You are my Creator,
Maker and Sustainer,
Provider and Savior,
Father and Master.

You correct and discipline
Like a loving Father, Lord,
You teach and You guide
Your children every day.

I will call upon You
In joy and in trouble,
I will seek Your face,
I will bless Your name.

Justice and righteousness
Are Your throne’s foundation.
Lord, mercy and truth
Are before Your face.

I’ll sing of Your mercy
And tell of Your love,
There’s so much to say,
I will not be silent.

You are our refuge,
From age to age
You remain the same,
Only You, living God.

Our life here is short,
There’s much to do
For You, for others,
Help us live wisely.

Those who trust You
Will call upon You
In joy and trouble,
You hear and answer.

You are found by
Those who seek You,
You deliver, You save
Those who cry out to You.

It is good to praise You
Day or night, anywhere,
You are holy and righteous,
You are merciful and just.

Sunday Praise (76) 2/16/20

Sunday Praise (76) 2/16/20. by me.

A new day has begun
And with the rising of the sun
The warmth will soon come
And much activity will begin.

It is all set in motion,
The day’s commotion,
Events take place,
Much must be done.

What a wonderful day
You have made today.
Thank You for the church,
For a blessed meeting.

I will sing to You
For all of my life.
My soul will bless
You who created it.

Your love knows no bounds,
Your mercy is like no others’,
I will praise You who is worthy
Of glory, honor, riches, thanks.

Jesus, You are my Lord,
Christ, You are my Savior,
You are my strong Leader,
Author and finisher of my faith.

You’re my fortress, God,
Hard as granite, Master,
I walk with You knowing
You are my victory, Lord.

Great is Your mercy
Toward me, toward us,
You sent Your Son to die
For sinners, to save them.

Who can keep silent
Knowing all You’ve done?
How much You’ve done for all!
How deserving You are of glory!

I trust in You, Lord,
You know me wholly,
I’m loved by You,
I am Your child.

You are my hiding place,
A place of refuge, safety,
For all who hope in You,
There is none better, God.

Be not far from me,
I need always You,
You sustain me, Lord,
Every moment of my life.

You have rescued me
More times than I recall,
I have been redeemed
By Jesus Christ the Lord.

You see everything,
You know everything,
Nothing is hidden
From You, living God.

You are holding my hand
And You are leading me
In Your way everlasting,
I am growing in trusting.

When my time here is up
You will receive me, Lord,
I will be forever with You,
There’s nowhere better to be.

It’s good to be here,
In Your holy presence,
To praise You, Father,
To declare Your deeds.

Oh, You do not forget
Who Your children are,
They know You, Abba,
You know them, Father.

You created everything
For Your glory, Lord.
Creation points to You,
It glorifies You, Creator.

Your name is near,
You are amazing,
Worthy to be praised,
Worthy of all glory.

You are the Judge,
You judge perfectly,
You make no mistakes,
Perfect in all Your ways.

Great is Your name
Among Your people,
They love to declare
Your works, O Lord.

May all who gather around You
Bring You gifts, Almighty God.
You are glorious and holy,
Righteous, kind, all-powerful.

I raise my voice to You,
You hear me when I call,
You answer according to Your will,
According to Your wisdom, Father.

My Lord, may I not forget
About Your deeds in my life
You are living and active,
I thank You, I glorify You.

It is good to know about You,
It is a blessing to know You, God.
It is an honor to be Your servant,
The greatest joy to be Your child.

You have done so much,
Help me to give witness
To Your great works in my life
And in the lives of many others.

Have mercy on us
When we sin again,
Forgive us our sins,
Wash us clean, Savior.

We are ransomed,
We are redeemed,
We are Your children
And You are our Father.

We are Your nation, Your people,
We are the sheep of Your pasture,
From age to age we will glorify You
God from everlasting to everlasting.

Lord, restore us,
Shine Your face
And we will be
Saved by You.

Behold us from above,
Visit Your chosen people,
We are in need of You,
Help us in times of trouble.

Help us to rejoice in You,
To joyfully sing to You
You are our salvation,
You are our one Savior.

We will have no other gods befors You,
You are our hope, living and true God.
King of kings and Lord of lords forever,
Worthy of all the glory, God Almighty!
