“A Fool on the Wide Road”

“A Fool on the Wide Road”

Tell lies to get what you want,
Call the faithful “fools” for believing.
You think you have the truth in your hands,
You think unbelief will give your soul relief.

Speaking your words of hate again,
Blaspheming the name of the Holy One,
Scoffing at all that God has commanded,
You tread now the way of the lost fool.

Wide road, smooth path,
Feeling carefree as you go
Down the road you think is right
But it only leads to destruction.

Whatever your reason,
Whatever your goal,
This you should know:
As it stands, your end is Hell.

It’s so easy to believe in nothing
Beyond the visible, what’s sensed;
To believe what makes you feel good;
To believe what comforts your lost soul.

It’s so very easy but it does no good
For you only blind yourself to reality –
You ignore the perilous state of your soul;
You don’t want to believe there’s more
Than what you see and feel in this world.

“Until One Comes to Know and Love God” written by me.

“Until One Comes to Know and Love God” written by me.

Until one has come to a point in life, the point of an actual realization that they are accountable to God who is One infinitely more powerful than they are;
the One who has created them and sustains them every moment of life and existence;
the One who can rightly and truly lay claim to them, lay claim over their life completely;
the One to whom they must ultimately answer for all their actions when their life here ends;
until that point the person can rightly be called ignorant of an ultimate reality in which all humans live and exist, a truth which can be denied but not destroyed.

If they have heard that truth but keep rejecting it, scoffing, mocking, ignoring, or hating it, it may simply be said they consider or want to be their own god, to have none greater than themselves to answer to, to ultimately be their only true ruler and thus all others are usurpers and makers of false claims upon the person’s life.

Such a person has remained behind the line that separates truth and lie; they remain behind the line that leads to the illumination of truths, the opposite of the lies they have believed and lived by in life.

These people may believe they have what they need but it is not what they need, it is what they want, what the self desires, what the lies make appear as need but it is not.

They can rightly be called presently ignorant and deceived for that is how God sees them but He does not want any to remain so but rather to receive new life, to come to repentance, to be born again as Christ said, to have their hearts replaced, remade, renovated, to become who they were meant to become, to do what they should do, to love as they are loved, to think as they ought, to have what they need and not desire at the moment.

This being God’s desire and will may appear to many people confining, restrictive, even oppressive, but they do not see or understand their actual need or what was originally planned and willed for them or what is ultimately good for them.

If their hearts remain cold and hard and their mind keeps rejecting the truth, it is quite possible that they will keep rejecting the truth until they die, to their own peril and doom.

If their self is the I’m-my-own-god sort of high degree these usually meet their end as conviced of their own autonomy and judges of their own goodness and destiny, a sad sight for clear minds who know the truth of the matter is the opposite of such peole’s beliefs, or rather delusions.

What does not correspond to reality is unreality or irreality and should be fought against, rejected by those who have had their minds opened and illuminated by the Holy Spirit who is the Spirit of truth.

Without this mind-opening, this illumination, understanding, people remain in the dark, ignorant, deceived, blind, and are in need of what they have not, whether because of the self and pride rejecting God and truth, or other reasons.

All these need God, they need a Savior for they are not saved, their spirit is dead and their soul is lost;
they need God’s forgiveness for they are not yet forgiven for their many sins, transgressions, wrongs;
they need deliverance and redemption for they are slaves to sin and self and must be redeemed by Christ;
they need regeneration, renewal, a second birth, from above, a spirual rebirth.

All they have not but need is all they require to be the people God wants them to be, the kind of people God can make them if they lay down their pride, surrender unconditionally to their Creator and Lord and by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ the Savior of souls, Redeemer, King of kings and Lord of lords.

God calls all people to repentance and new life in Him, to fellowship with Him, to love Him above all and to obey His will and live as He has called us all to live, holy, not like the worldlings, the once-born and spiritually-dead but as God’s children adopted into His family and taken from the kingdom of darkness and transferred into God’s Kingdom to live not like the children of the devil but as children of God.

God alone can lay claim to us, over us, completely, for He is our Creator, our Maker and He is sovereign over all, and has no equal, no rival in existence, contrary to what some may believe, thei beliefs are false and correspond not to reality but are conceived in imagination and formed into false beliefs about God and reality.

“To the Unsaved, Lost, Condemned”

“To the Unsaved, Lost, Condemned”

Cracks in your outer structure
Reveal your inner state of disrepair.

The evidence shows a slave to sin,
The windows reveal death within:
A dead spirit,
A heart of stone,
A soul unsaved,
One at war with God.

Mere existence is not enough,
You are called to true life.

Gripping tight your weapons still
In a futile struggle against God.
Running, hiding, falling further down,
Your existence for self breeds misery.

Beating the air with your fists,
Trying to carry the weight of your sins,
Too proud to come to Christ now
Or too afraid of what it will cost.

This is the only life you live here,
There’s no coming back to do it all over,
All your sins can be forgiven now
If by faith you receive Christ as Lord and Savior.

You’ve wasted too much time already,
You’ve felt the emptiness within for so long.
It’s about time you accept the Truth solution –
Jesus Christ is the only way to the true God.

Repent of all your sins,
Place your faith in Christ alone,
You’ll be given a new heart,
Your spirit will come to life,
Your soul will be saved,
You will be made whole.

Come, take hold of the promise
Of freedom found only in Christ;
Take hold of a hope true and lasting,
The blessed assurance of the Lord.

See what you’ve ignored, missed for so long,
Open your eyes to see, open your ears to hear
And open your heart to receive the Truth:
It’s not about what you can do for God,
It’s about what Christ has done already.

Despite all that you’ve done wrong
And all your deepest, darkest deeds,
Despite all of the sins you’ve committed
He loved you first, He loves you even now.

If you will hear His voice now,
If you will heed His call now,
You will never regret it, friend,
God is the supreme joy of all!

He can forgive you, this believe,
Your sins aren’t too terrible to be forgiven,
By His grace through faith in Christ you can be saved,
Come as you are now, trust in the truth of His promise.

“Humanity’s Disease and God’s Cure” Note by me.

“Humanity’s Disease and God’s Cure” Note by me.

Humanity’s millenia of killings and murders are symptoms of a sickness that afflicts us all – sin.
Religious or not, afflicted by sin they’ll be and the further from God they are, the more selfish and less restrained they’ll be in their thinking and behavior, and when self is god then misery is left in the wake of all these little phony gods who are not gods at all but are slaves to sin, diseased lost souls who need the remedy, the cure for their terrible illness, and the remedy, the cure, the only solution is Jesus Christ.

The longer people live in denial of this truth and reject this sole solution, the more miserable they’ll be and their attempts at utopia will be pathetic failures, a hell on earth instead of the paradise they thought they could have without God.

That’s reality. No God means no peace; no Christ means no salvation. Pretending sin’s not our worst disease will not make it go away, it’ll just worsen its effects on us, if not in the short run then surely in the long run. Embracing God’s solution, accepting and applying His cure of salvation through faith in Christ is the beginning of spiritual life, true life, the beginning of a better reality and a wonderful destiny that God Himself promises and assures us will be ours in Christ.

That we are all ill with sin, that we don’t have the cure, that we can’t save ourselves, that we can’t enter God’s presence by own efforts, that’s reality, that’s the point of God Incarnate coming into the world, to do what we can never do, to accomplish what we can’t, for Him to be just and yet be able to justify the sinners, that’s the good news, the Gospel.

Christ died for us while we were yet sinners, not because we’re decent people who’ve made mistakes but because we’re sinners deserving death, the wages of our sins, we’re deserving of God’s wrath but by His grace and in His love He made a way of release, escape from wrath, a way to be reconciled to God the Father, a way to be made spiritually alive and accepted in Christ, on Christ’s merit, on His righteousness, not anything good in us but all the good that’s in Him.
We’d be the worst fools to reject God’s offer of salvation and new life in Christ.

“Moment of Truth”

“Moment of Truth”

This is the moment of truth
Where resolve is put to the test,
Where the truth is placed against the lies,
This is the sifting time of the true and false.

This is where fear faces death,
Where doubt faces a hard decision;
In the face of death the truth is revealed
Whether the faith is real or not.

Just because you’re afraid you won’t defend the truth?
Compromise and pretense are cowardice,
Pretended acceptance of false beliefs
For the sake of being spared is cowardice.

It’s treason, really, to betray what you believe,
To pretend you didn’t really believe it
Because now you’re threatened with death
And you’d rather pretend than die for the truth.

When the blade is brought to your throat,
When the gun is put to your head,
That’s where the test of belief is most real,
When your only choices are to die or betray.

It seems harsh, it seems it can’t be that narrow,
But it is and you must realize the cost is great,
Sometimes it may require your life to stand
For the sake of Christ and His Gospel.

What’s the choice you’d make then
If it wasn’t just a possible event but reality?
When you’re threatened with death
Would you stand or fall with those who fell before?

“Away With Pedestals” (Long Prose)

Long Prose

“Away With Pedestals”

Put me on a pedestal,
Get your hopes up high,
Think me to be someone
With no problems or flaws,
Without imperfections or kinks,
You can think it if you will
But you’ll just be wasting time.

Just watch me fall and fail
Time and time again,
Watch me disappoint you,
See me fail your expectations,
Watch me make mistakes,
See me bend and bruise and break,
See the hopes you had for me
Fall to pieces as reality sets in.

Here’s the simply truth, friend:
If you put me on a pedestal
I just will not stay on it,
It’ll soon be set on fire,
It will crumble, burn to ash,
I will fail you when you least expect it.

See, I’m not a perfect person,
I’m just a sinner saved by God,
I’m not interested in pretending
To keep you happy with me.
I’m not intersted in playing a part
That you have picked out for me
And want me to play for you.

Just forget the pedestal,
The unrealistic expectations,
I know I’m not perfect
And neither are you.

Let’s just face the facts
Though the truth may hurt:
I make plenty of mistakes,
I sin and struggle with temptation,
Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose,
I’m not as strong as I think I am,
I’m not as wise as I could be,
I do foolish things sometimes,
I need forgiveness and grace,
I still need to learn much I don’t know,
I stumble, fall, fail, trip, and slip not rarely.

Sometimes I don’t do what I should,
Sometimes I can’t feel God’s presence,
Some days I just feel empty inside
Until I seek the living God;
I feel unfed and thirsty within
Until I feed upon God’s Word
And drink the Living Water.

See, I am saved but I still sin,
There are things that fill me with wonder
But I’m most amazed by the living God.
I’m living because He sustains me,
Because He gives me another moment,
Not because I’m good or I deserve it all;
All I have I receive from God’s hand.

Without Him sustaining me I’d be dead,
Without His love I’d be dead in hate,
Without His grace I’ve be condemned to Hell,
Without His mercy I’d be dead long ago.

I’ve seen what others do
When pride rules them;
I’ve felt the pain of their words,
I know the end of their ways.

Don’t put me where you’re not willing to stand,
Don’t build your house on sand, stranger, friend.
Don’t put on a pedestal, I just won’t stand there,
I’m not interested in making you disillusioned with me.

Away with all the pedestals!
Away with unrealistic expectations!
Away with all-too-common prejudice!
Away with habitual hypocrisy!
Away with wrong judging!
Away with the idle, vain and heinous,
The things that consume us slowly,
The things that corrupt our hearts,
The things that are abominable to God,
The things that don’t glorify Him!

We need to look at things realistically,
To see things as they really are
Not simply as we perceive them,
We must adopt God’s perspective of things.

Show patience, show grace,
Overlook the common mistakes,
What’s common to all people,
The failures we all share.
Show love without set conditions.

Look at things with a balanced view,
Don’t let you perception be clouded
By some unrealistic expectations,
Don’t put people on pedestals,
They won’t meet your expectations,
They’ll fail you, what’ll you do then?
If you become disillusioned with them
Who will be at fault? Who’ll be to blame?

Avoid the disappointment
And avoid the heartache,
Save yourself time and energy,
You won’t be disillusioned with people
If you don’t put them on pedestals,
Don’t make idols of people or things,
See yourself and others as all really are
And not as you imagine them to be.
