“On Foundations of Sand”

“On Foundations of Sand”

Fallen men are always building
On foundations of sand,
They keep hoping they could be
An exception to the rule of reality.

The best of plans and intentions,
All for nothing in the end,
Exercises in futility, sad to see,
An example in action of insanity.

Building on the sand, temporal, unstable,
Leaving Christ out of it all,
World’s wisdom for the willing,
Invest in a guaranteed failure.

A bleaker future can’t be imagined,
Songs of the world lull them to sleep,
All for the body, nothing for the spirit,
Once born, dead inside, hopeless by choice.

So it’s coming down to this point in time,
Everything’s coming to some end,
It’s all coming down on their heads,
They can’t shift the blame, it’s their fault.

If you reject Christ as your life’s foundation
Then blame yourself in the end, just be honest;
It’s nobody’s fault you chose this way,
You’re just getting what you want.

Live with your choices and reap what you’ve sown,
You don’t care for God, you live like He doesn’t exist,
You’re living in your own little world
But it’s going to fall apart and burn to nothing.
…….
Glory to God Alone

“Fame’s a Pedestal of Expectations” Note by me.

“Fame’s a Pedestal of Expectations” Note by me.

–Originally just a comment; shared here as a note–

Fame’s a pedestal of expectations that can’t be met by the famous for they are but our fellow sinners, flawed, imperfect, broken, and sadly too many of the famous live in denial of this and let fame get to their head, clouding their judgment, leading them down darker and darker roads in life.

If they can’t admit they’re sinful, flawed, imperfect, broken, then their life (or existence) is based on denial of a very important truth that can pave the way to right road, to look beyond imperfect self to something beyond self, to get a glimpse of that transcendental reality that is God.

God is that too-often ignored Creator of all things who made every individual, calls each to embrace Him and have eyes opened to a reality that they’ve been blind to; to answer a call the world can never give; to love without pretending; to be set free from the easily-besetting sin; to be put on a road that has to do with the eternal instead of temporal; to truly live and be all they can be in the grace and strength of the God who created them.

“Of Fear and Courage” by me.

“Of Fear and Courage” by me.

–Note: this was orginally just a comment I made on a post by someone talking about the present-day lack of courage displayed by people, and I thought to share it here, too.–

Part of the reason could be a lack of role models, models of courage, examples worth following, people who live what they preach or believe, people who know
what real courage and how to exhibit it.
Another reason is that it just seems to cost too much to be courageous, too much at stake, too much to lose; easier to keep mouth shut and feet planted than to risk
what you own. Fear of loss of material possessions, job, house, status, and the like, keeps many people from showing courage at a time when it should be shown.
It’s much easier to sit down than stand up; much easier to remain idle than active.
It’s much easier to keep quiet and not be criticized or punished for speaking out or against something than to speak up against what’s wrong or foolish.
I haven’t lived that long but I’ve seen what fear can do in a life, my own included, and in the lives of those who should’ve shown examples of courage but didn’t.
Disappointment with self and others is pretty much guaranteed part of life since we’re all imperfect (yet that shouldn’t be used as an excuse) but it’s not something
that need be a frequent as it is.
If we are struggling to find any obvious examples of courage in the present, then looking to the past for shining examples of courage is a reasonable course of action and will avail us, I am sure, for the past is full of more than the present and stark examples of courage may be found, read about, without much difficulty. If we seek, we shall find. If we look at the examples of courage from the past, it will encourage us and give us help and insight into to matter of courage applied in our own life.
Just my thoughts on the matter.

“Don’t be ignorant of the enemy, and don’t be ignorant of God’s power” written by me.

“Don’t be ignorant of the enemy, and don’t be ignorant of God’s power” written by me.

–Note: This note was actually originally a comment I made on someone’s post in a group I’m part of in Facebook but I think it’s worth sharing here, for your benefit, possible commenting upon or correcting of, but most importantly may these words bring glory to God and speak truth.–

While we can’t and shouldn’t say that we only sin because the devil makes us do it, we must realize that the devil does tempt and trick and corrupt people and preys on their weaknesses to achieve his vile purposes but the fact that we fall for these tricks and sin as a result of being deceived by the devil does not make us innocent, we are still culpable, accountable for our actions, responsible for keeping our mental, physical and spiritual defenses up and be on guard against the enemy’s many evil tools and methods and attack tactics and tricks.

We must ever be awake and aware of the enemy and his strategies and methods and be on guard lest we become easy prey for his attacks and lies.

We must ever rely on God to guard us, help us, lead us, guide us, always, in all things, for we cannot stand against the enemy and hope to win alone, without God being our victory we shall have no victory.

We must depend upon God and trust Him and surrender to Him and know that without Him we can do nothing, we can’t win a battle much less a war against the enemy of our souls, against temptations, against sins, against all forms and servants of evil.

Let us not be naive, ignorant of the enemy and his ways and strength, nor take lightly the enemy as if he is no threat or problem to us, for he surely is and to underestimate him and his power is foolish; that’s why we must ever lean upon the Lord and His power and strength and not our own understanding of this or that.

Wisdom doesn’t begin with us, and the victory doesn’t come by us nor belong to us, and the glory does not go or belong to us. Wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord; victory comes by and from and belongs to the Lord; and the glory must all go and belong to God, always.

Know your enemy, soldiers of Christ, and before that know and love and trust the Lord who alone can save you and bring you victory in this life, in the battles you’ll face, in the struggles small and great. Ever trust the Lord, ever love Him, ever obey Him, ever glorify Him!
