“Christ Can Save You Now”

No, all is not lost yet, weary sinner,
There is true salvation in the Savior,
There is yet hope, hear and listen,
To repent and believe now hasten.

Are you feeling lost within and without?
Empty inside with seemingly only doubt,
The dead ends and failures fill your past,
You try to hope this darkness won’t last.

Weighed down by guilt and shame,
Knowing you are the one to blame,
Come to the Lord and ask for forgiveness,
He’ll clothe you in Christ’s righteousness.

Seeing the world through materialist eyes
Has only led to emptinesss, defeat, hopelessness.
Naturalistic notions proved so hollow, shallow, superficial,
See now how unsatisfying atheism is for any soul!

How simple to believe in atheistic naturalism
But how useless it is for spirit, soul, heart, and mind.
There is a truth God has revealed to us
And He wants us all to accept it wholly!

This is the truth: Christ is the hope of every sinner now and always
See, everyone who doesn’t believe in Christ is already condemned
But faith and repentance can change where you’ll be for eternity,
By God’s grace through faith in Christ you can be saved now!

What keeps you from believing in and on Jesus Christ?
Don’t think you have any real reason not to believe,
Don’t listen anymore to the lies of all who are against Christ
Lay down your pride, surrender to Christ who is Lord and Savior.

Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed, don’t think you’ll live as long as you want,
Don’t waste every opportunity God gave and is giving you
To come to surrender to Christ and by Him be really saved,
Don’t ignore the call of God, come as you are, only Christ can save you!

Christ can save you, He can wash away all of your sins
By His precious Blood that was shed for you,
He can take away your guilt and shame and blame,
You’re not too sinful, filthy, guilty to be saved by Christ even now!

Trust in the truth of God’s words, no lies in them,
Take Him at His word, He never lied and never will,
God calls you now to repentance, to Christ, to salvation,
To new life, to spiritual life, to truly live as He created you to.

This is the truth God wants you to know and believe,
You’re not here to exist a few decades and then die,
God calls you to true life found only in Him,
He wants you to come and be saved through Christ.

If these words seem strange or silly to you right now, reader,
May God open your mind to see what you’ve missed or ignored before,
May He remove the veil from your eyes, the scales on them,
May you come to believe the truth much sooner than later!

If you still think it’s all just one belief no better or truer than another,
You simply don’t realize yet how important and real God’s truth is.
God help you understand what you’ve not understood for so long,
To come to the knowledge of the truth about Christ and salvation.

Hear, God’s calling you to come to repentance today,
To be forgiven and to be reconciled to Him through Christ,
Don’t reject salvation, oh, don’t reject Christ His Son,
You’ll die one day, don’t die an unbeliever, come to Christ now!

“Until One Comes to Know and Love God” written by me.

“Until One Comes to Know and Love God” written by me.

Until one has come to a point in life, the point of an actual realization that they are accountable to God who is One infinitely more powerful than they are;
the One who has created them and sustains them every moment of life and existence;
the One who can rightly and truly lay claim to them, lay claim over their life completely;
the One to whom they must ultimately answer for all their actions when their life here ends;
until that point the person can rightly be called ignorant of an ultimate reality in which all humans live and exist, a truth which can be denied but not destroyed.

If they have heard that truth but keep rejecting it, scoffing, mocking, ignoring, or hating it, it may simply be said they consider or want to be their own god, to have none greater than themselves to answer to, to ultimately be their only true ruler and thus all others are usurpers and makers of false claims upon the person’s life.

Such a person has remained behind the line that separates truth and lie; they remain behind the line that leads to the illumination of truths, the opposite of the lies they have believed and lived by in life.

These people may believe they have what they need but it is not what they need, it is what they want, what the self desires, what the lies make appear as need but it is not.

They can rightly be called presently ignorant and deceived for that is how God sees them but He does not want any to remain so but rather to receive new life, to come to repentance, to be born again as Christ said, to have their hearts replaced, remade, renovated, to become who they were meant to become, to do what they should do, to love as they are loved, to think as they ought, to have what they need and not desire at the moment.

This being God’s desire and will may appear to many people confining, restrictive, even oppressive, but they do not see or understand their actual need or what was originally planned and willed for them or what is ultimately good for them.

If their hearts remain cold and hard and their mind keeps rejecting the truth, it is quite possible that they will keep rejecting the truth until they die, to their own peril and doom.

If their self is the I’m-my-own-god sort of high degree these usually meet their end as conviced of their own autonomy and judges of their own goodness and destiny, a sad sight for clear minds who know the truth of the matter is the opposite of such peole’s beliefs, or rather delusions.

What does not correspond to reality is unreality or irreality and should be fought against, rejected by those who have had their minds opened and illuminated by the Holy Spirit who is the Spirit of truth.

Without this mind-opening, this illumination, understanding, people remain in the dark, ignorant, deceived, blind, and are in need of what they have not, whether because of the self and pride rejecting God and truth, or other reasons.

All these need God, they need a Savior for they are not saved, their spirit is dead and their soul is lost;
they need God’s forgiveness for they are not yet forgiven for their many sins, transgressions, wrongs;
they need deliverance and redemption for they are slaves to sin and self and must be redeemed by Christ;
they need regeneration, renewal, a second birth, from above, a spirual rebirth.

All they have not but need is all they require to be the people God wants them to be, the kind of people God can make them if they lay down their pride, surrender unconditionally to their Creator and Lord and by God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ the Savior of souls, Redeemer, King of kings and Lord of lords.

God calls all people to repentance and new life in Him, to fellowship with Him, to love Him above all and to obey His will and live as He has called us all to live, holy, not like the worldlings, the once-born and spiritually-dead but as God’s children adopted into His family and taken from the kingdom of darkness and transferred into God’s Kingdom to live not like the children of the devil but as children of God.

God alone can lay claim to us, over us, completely, for He is our Creator, our Maker and He is sovereign over all, and has no equal, no rival in existence, contrary to what some may believe, thei beliefs are false and correspond not to reality but are conceived in imagination and formed into false beliefs about God and reality.

“In the Darkness Again”

Written by: Victor P.

“In the Darkness Again”

Lost again in the darkness,
I’ve wandered from Your light,
I’ve strayed from Your path
And now I’m trapped here.

Nothing makes sense anymore
When I leave Your way, O Lord,
If I seek peace outside of You
I’ll always be left disappointed.

You’ll find me anywhere,
You’ll call my name again
And I’ll see Your light
And feel Your presence.

I’m lost again when the world pulls me in,
I lose ground when I lose focus of You.
I’d stand strong if I weren’t so weak,
I’d keep fighting if I weren’t so tired.

The enemy whispers in a sweet voice
With tempting offers and half-truths,
The shiny chains hide future bondage,
The liar promises freedom from much.

God, find me where You found me before,
I’ll be back in the dark searching for light,
Looking for answers to my many questions,
Looking for the way out of this great darkness.

Tear down this veil over my eyes
And I’ll see the scales fall off and see
What meaningless things I’ve chased,
What lies I’ve believed told by the enemy.

Now I’m desperate in this darkness
And the liar comes to spout his lies,
Trying hard to drain me of hope,
Trying to wear me down, tear me down.

Tearing at the walls of my very heart,
Slithering around like a snake every day,
Always with the lies, always with the deceit,
It starts to look like this won’t end at all.

I know his desire’s to lead me to lose faith,
To see my faith waiver, to see it crumble;
I know the devil wants me to despair,
To fall to pieces, to lose all hope and die.

But it won’t go the way the devil wants,
I see through his lies and half-truths,
I cling to the living Truth at all costs,
I won’t fall into despair, God help me.

I seek the light in this thick darkness,
I hear Your truth drown out the lies,
My heart looks to You now, Lord,
I won’t drown in despair, God help me.

I won’t be left in this darkness to perish,
You’ll hear the cries of my soul and answer,
You’ll shine Your great light, dissipate the darkness
And pull me out from this place I’ve been trapped in.

No, I won’t be another victim,
You alone have saved me, Lord,
Your light replaces my darkness,
I’m walking in Your light again.

Stay by my side through everything,
I place my life in Your caring hands,
You’re my first love, my Judge and Savior,
You’re all I truly want and need, my God.

My Savior, my Shepherd, light of my life,
My love and hope, my strength and song,
My Redeemer, my Rescuer, the only true God,
I will live and love You, You’ll lead me home.

“Away With Pedestals” (Long Prose)

“Away With Pedestals”

Put me on a pedestal,
Get your hopes up high,
Think me to be someone
With no problems or flaws,
Without imperfections or kinks,
You can think it if you will
But you’ll just be wasting time.

Just watch me fall and fail
Time and time again,
Watch me disappoint you,
See me fail your expectations,
Watch me make mistakes,
See me bend and bruise and break,
See the hopes you had for me
Fall to pieces as reality sets in.

Here’s the simply truth, friend:
If you put me on a pedestal
I just will not stay on it,
It’ll soon be set on fire,
It will crumble, burn to ash,
I will fail you when you least expect it.

See, I’m not a perfect person,
I’m just a sinner saved by God,
I’m not interested in pretending
To keep you happy with me.
I’m not intersted in playing a part
That you have picked out for me
And want me to play for you.

Just forget the pedestal,
The unrealistic expectations,
I know I’m not perfect
And neither are you.

Let’s just face the facts
Though the truth may hurt:
I make plenty of mistakes,
I sin and struggle with temptation,
Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose,
I’m not as strong as I think I am,
I’m not as wise as I could be,
I do foolish things sometimes,
I need forgiveness and grace,
I still need to learn much I don’t know,
I stumble, fall, fail, trip, and slip not rarely.

Sometimes I don’t do what I should,
Sometimes I can’t feel God’s presence,
Some days I just feel empty inside
Until I seek the living God;
I feel unfed and thirsty within
Until I feed upon God’s Word
And drink the Living Water.

See, I am saved but I still sin,
There are things that fill me with wonder
But I’m most amazed by the living God.
I’m living because He sustains me,
Because He gives me another moment,
Not because I’m good or I deserve it all;
All I have I receive from God’s hand.

Without Him sustaining me I’d be dead,
Without His love I’d be dead in hate,
Without His grace I’ve be condemned to Hell,
Without His mercy I’d be dead long ago.

I’ve seen what others do
When pride rules them;
I’ve felt the pain of their words,
I know the end of their ways.

Don’t put me where you’re not willing to stand,
Don’t build your house on sand, stranger, friend.
Don’t put on a pedestal, I just won’t stand there,
I’m not interested in making you disillusioned with me.

Away with all the pedestals!
Away with unrealistic expectations!
Away with all-too-common prejudice!
Away with habitual hypocrisy!
Away with wrong judging!
Away with the idle, vain and heinous,
The things that consume us slowly,
The things that corrupt our hearts,
The things that are abominable to God,
The things that don’t glorify Him!

We need to look at things realistically,
To see things as they really are
Not simply as we perceive them,
We must adopt God’s perspective of things.

Show patience, show grace,
Overlook the common mistakes,
What’s common to all people,
The failures we all share.
Show love without set conditions.

Look at things with a balanced view,
Don’t let you perception be clouded
By some unrealistic expectations,
Don’t put people on pedestals,
They won’t meet your expectations,
They’ll fail you, what’ll you do then?
If you become disillusioned with them
Who will be at fault? Who’ll be to blame?

Avoid the disappointment
And avoid the heartache,
Save yourself time and energy,
You won’t be disillusioned with people
If you don’t put them on pedestals,
Don’t make idols of people or things,
See yourself and others as all really are
And not as you imagine them to be.

“A Darker View; A Living Hope”

5/27/17
Written by: Victor P.
Long Prose

“A Darker View; A Living Hope”

Just look around you,
See what’s happening
So near and so far away
On this planet even now.

Who can say that there’s nothing wrong?
Who’d dare deny there’s death and pain?
Who’d say it’s all meaningless in the end?
Who says there’s nothing left to live for?

Don’t tell me everything’s okay
Because I know that it’s not.
Don’t spout another cliché,
Who’s not sick of them yet?

I’m not here to spread pessimism
But to call to see things realistically,
To stop pretending everything’s all right
Because the bloodshed says otherwise.

We can’t just sing through it,
We can’t outlast it by idleness,
If we’re to live to see another year
God help us or we’re as good as dead.

This is the world as it is
And you still say
We don’t need a Savior,
You just don’t know
How wrong you are.
Do you really believe
The words you’re saying
Or do you just want a way out,
An excuse, a cheap avoidance, evasion,
To keep yourself from accepting
The truth that’s staring all in the face?

Things look quite dark,
The future so uncertain,
Every day could be our last
So what are we living for?
What are we dying for?

There are so many existing
Like life’s a game to play,
Carelessness and recklessness
Rules in the hedonistic hearts,
Love grows cold but lust burns,
Pleasure’s sought at others’ expense,
Godliness and holiness rejected,
Neglected, overlooked, ignored,
Like nothing matters more
Than feeling good right now,
Getting what the flesh wants,
Wanting what desire burns for,
Coveting without stopping;
Selfishness is consuming lives.

Lost souls seek to numb the pain
Without positive results, only failure,
Nothing of the world can fill the void,
It accumulates, pollutes and corrupts
And pretty soon the rot within sickens,
The emptiness remains, the misery grows.

There’s no hope and no salvation
If you’re looking for it in the world,
The world system hostile to all that’s of God,
It can’t save your miserable and lost soul,
Know that it can’t deliver you from Hell
And if you look to yourself for salvation
You’ll be severely disappointed soon enough,
You’ll find out, God help you, you can’t save yourself.

I’m not here to pat heads and spout clichés,
I’m not interested in tickling eager ears,
I’m not interested in scratching itching ears,
I’m not in the business of parroting platitudes,
I’m not here to play pretend that everything’s okay.

Say what you will and think worse if you want
But my mind’s made up, my purpose remains
To shine the light of hope to a dark world,
To always point back to Christ as the only answer.

Christ is the only hope of this dying world,
Christ is the only Savior of sinners,
Christ is the One who died for the ungodly,
He’s the only way to God the Father,
He’s the Way and the Truth and the Life,
He died to set the slaves free,
To change miserable and lost lives,
To renovate hearts, to change them from stone to flesh,
To bring life where there’s death and misery,
He’s the only one worthy of glory, wholehearted commitment,
All other gods can burn in Hell’s flames forevermore,
God knows they will, all false gods will be destroyed!

So look around and see the dark clouds
But don’t fix your eyes on the present
So much that you’re just standing still
Too afraid to do anything else, really.
Look up and see the sun peeking
Through the clouds, it’s a reminder
God’s still in control, it’s not hopeless,
No matter how bad things may get,
No matter how dark things may seem
Fix your eyes on Jesus, healthy or ill
And know that He has overcome the world,
There’s nothing that can ever stop Him,
He will not fail, He will not lose control,
Nothing can separate His chidren from His love.

If you’re still looking within for salvation,
If you’re still looking within for all the answers,
I promise you you’ll fail in your endeavor
Because it’s a futile one, a waste of time,
You can never save yourself, be sure of that,
You won’t find all the answers to your questions
Looking within your finite mind, that’s a guarantee.

You may think the world doesn’t need a Savior
And much less do you think you need one
But you couldn’t be more wrong
And though you may feel so sure now
That my kind and I are the ones wrong
Time will not agree with your belief,
Truth will not die and fade into the past,
You will see in time that you’ve been wrong
If you don’t persist in your proud stand,
If you don’t continue living in denial
Of the truth that corresponds to reality,
I pray to God you’ll believe one day,
Better sooner than later but I don’t decide,
Your life from first to last breath is in God’s hands,
Realize He’s in control; may you never forget it.

“On Music and Truth.” by me.

“On Music and Truth” by me.
Written 2/24/16.

A Suggestion
If you are looking for some music that is lyrically good, with content, with substance, theologically sound, I have a suggestion. It’s a band called Minor, and they released an album this year; the songs can be heard online, fastest way to find them is to go to YouTube, or follow the link I provide here. Give the songs a listen, I hope you shall find something to like, to be inspired by, provoked to thought, to ponder the great theme of salvation through faith in Christ by the grace of God.
While I would personally prefer more vocal variation in an album, it does not make the songs or album worse in any way, for the main thing is the lyrical content, the truth that’s present, the message that is shared with all who will hear the songs or read the lyrics online. At the end of the post is a link to the band’s songs.
Songs With Words(Lyrics)
Speaking of the importance of the lyrical content in any song I do not want anyone reading this to get the idea that I am against instrumental music, songs without words; no, I am not against them, and I’m not saying that since I consider lyrical content/ substance of a song to be the most important part of a song, that means I consider songs without words to be of little or no value to people;
no, I don’t want people to get that idea, what I am saying is that in songs with words/lyrics the part that should be given primary place/focus is words/lyrics, for no matter how good it sounds musically if it’s deficient in lyrical quality or content it is deficient in the most important part, and whatever enjoyment listeners may get from it they’ll not get the benefit of hearing quality lyrics, by which I mean lyrics full of truth; lyrics that conform to theological and biblical standards, virtues, values, etc.; lyrics that aren’t about just making someone feel good about themselves but lyrics that call for action to be taken by the listener; lyrics that provoke the listener to move, to change, instead of remaining complacent or being content with the way things are in one’s life be they so bad or spiritually unhealthy or so-so; lyrics that shift one’s focus from the temporary and fleeting to the eternal and everlasting; lyrics that point one to love, to truth, to Christ, to God.

Instrumental music (songs without words)
In this post I was speaking of songs with words, therefore no implication was made about the worth or usefulness or lack thereof of instrumental music. What I will say about songs without words is that it must not be music for music’s sake; music just for the sake of music being made as an addition to the music that already exists; it shouldn’t be music for filling the void in any given environment, meaning music made to chase away the silence, music to distract one from ponder important questions of life and death; it shouldn’t be noise to drown out the silence in any given place; it also shouldn’t be music made for the promotion of self in the eyes of others, seeking praise or approval of others through the making of music; it shouldn’t made for one’s own glory or for the inflating of their ego, or for the occasion to belittle others or insult their music-making abilities.
Instrumental music should be made most importantly for the glory of God, even though it contains no words, in still has the potential to affect people in positive ways if it is done right, if it’s made for the right reasons, if it’s made for the glory of God first and the benefit of others second. While some may underestimate the power of instrumental music, we must not, for it can be a potent, powerful tool in the hands of a devoted and God-fearing individual, and it can bring benefits that another would not be able to for the other may be making the music for reasons I mentioned above, essentially misusing the tool that is music for their own ends and glory.
Instrumental music can be used to help those who’ve much to think about, inspire them, lead them to ponder important things, help them study, help to to appreciate music as a gift God has given mankind, lead them to praise God, inspire them to also make music, and it can do other things. So, instrumental music is a powerful thing, a good thing in the right hands, a gift to share, it is not worse than music with lyrics but it cannot share the truth like music with words can.

Conclusion
It could be said that that’s what’s lacking in the modern music world, even Christian music world, a lack of more truth-packed, biblically correct, theologically sound songs. This can be changed if more people realized how potent music can be, how useful it can be as a tool to spread the truth and share the undiluted Gospel with the world in need of the truth, in need of Christ the Savior, in need of God.
Let us venture to speak the truth to all through whatever media we have at our disposal, whatever is our area of expertise, whatever talent(s) that we have, doing it for the benefit of others but primarily to the glory of God.

I am well aware that someone or other may disagree with something or everything I have written here; that will not make me think I should remove the note or that I should change my mind as soon as someone tells me something that differs from what I have written. If you will consider all I have written to be merely my opinions, so be it; if there are only some or a few things you agree with, great; if you disagree with all I wrote because of what you believe, so be it. I do not and cannot expect all who read this to agree with everything I wrote. If you are offended by something I have written in here, say it. I won’t change what I think just because someone disagrees with it or because it offends someone somehow; my beliefs don’t need to conform to other people’s but rather to the Word of God; I must disagree with others when what they say is not what the Bible says; I must conform to God’s ways and words, not to others’ or even my own if they aren’t what they’re supposed to be. I’m not perfect and neither are you, reader, we all think differently, we can’t all be right, but if we don’t agree with God’s Word then we’re all wrong. I have much to learn, as do you, so let us learn together as we live and live as we ought to, not conforming to the standards of the world but to the standards of God for therein lies our good and light for the path we walk in life.

This post was not to promote some band over another but to simply show that there are great songs one can listen to which have lyrical substance, presenting biblical truth accompanied by vocals and music. It is but one band that chooses to share the truth through the medium of song; there are plenty others out there, one just has to look to find.
A simple google search result for the band’s album, then follow the youtube link to listen to the songs:
