“Unbelief and Grief and Hope”

“Unbelief and Grief and Hope”

So fanatic in your unbelief!
So erroneous is your belief!

The bottles, pills, needles and many other things bring no relief!
Lo, your faithless life breeds idle days of hopelessness and grief!

What do you really hope for and what do you really crave?
Do you really believe there is nothing beyond the grave?

Burning complacency, it turns to ashes at your feet;
See your looming despondency and nighing defeat.

Walls begin to shatter, cracks multiply without number,
It’s all coming down right before your eyes.
All that you’ve built, all that you’ve worked for,
It was all built in vain, yes, it was all in vain!

It’s in the blood and the bone of every vile system;
I know all those sick, damning words that fill them!

Don’t waste another God-given breath;
Yours is an inevitable, imminent death!

Oh, do not play the fool like you have done so many times before!
Don’t let your pride lead you to Hell; you must be a fool no more!

Repent or you’ll perish!
Delusions you cherish,
Just let them all die now,
New life to come allow!

Come now to the Lord Jesus Christ
And He will quench your soul’s thirst.
Every promise He made is a promise kept;
For too long now in the dark you’ve slept.

Come now to the throne of grace,
Among the saved take your place,
And become one of God’s children,
By Christ to Heaven the way is open!

Repent and be made new now,
Born again by water and Spirit,
Learn what you must and how
To make’s life’s puzzle pieces fit.

Die daily to be alive again;
Die to live, to live to gain.
Bear all the pain and go take your claim;
Take your place, proclaim Christ’s name!

God spare you!
God break you!
God save you!
God remake you!

“To the Year’s End”

12/27/14. 12/28/14.
Written by: Victor P.

“To the Year’s End”

Let’s come to the end
Of another year
With our old selves,
With our old hearts.

See now as another year comes to an end;
Another many chose to carelessly spend.
We should have taken a stand
And more tried to understand.

There are mysteries we’ve not delved into
And matters we haven’t considered.
Oh, think, how little have we given unto
The God who has us all created?

Oh, what have we taken for granted?
Have we given more than we’ve received?
I say to those who’ve truly repented:
Beyond this is more than we’ve conceived!

We have reached the end, my friends,
Another year has come and gone!
How much have we left undone?
What will await us when our life ends?

The year’s end is like a preview
Of our own life’s eventual end.
We see when we ourselves view:
We borrow much and little lend.

Let’s not wear a mask of hope.
We fail in our attempts to cope
With all these things alone, on our own
But pride whips us, our scars have shown.

Tick, tock; we rarely sit and watch the clock,
With all there is to do we do not have the time for such things;
We so soon lose track of every tick and tock,
We just rush, run, chase, sleep and repeat as time its song sings.

Hurry along in life each day,
Slow down only to sleep.
We have fallen very deep
Into the pit that is everyday.

Let’s set fire to the fields of our dead harvest
And watch it be consumed as we think of the future.
In better things our time and resources invest
And we’ll see the growth of something better, sure.

With each new step we near our graves, that is reality’s sting;
With every exhaled breath we have less remaining.
To waste our time here just accumulating, attaining
Is to miss life’s point and leave it all here but self with nothing.

Oh, let’s leave gems intangible
And memorable etches upon loved hearts;
Attempt to mend loved ones’ broken parts.
Let’s make promises keepable!

Walk into the new night
With an assisted sight;
Words will light the way
And love inside will stay.

“Eyes, Lies, Kings, Times”

“Eyes, Lies, Kings, Times”

God, take our eyes and shift our focus
And make enemies’ lies burn before us.
We will watch the night sky light up
And drink from the celebration cup.

We’ve been looking at the wrong things
For too long now, and what it brings
Is not what we want or what we need.
There are warnings we must all heed.

Rejoice, rejoice, it has been said before, rejoice in God!
In happiness or suffering, may we rejoice in the Lord!
The time of remembering Christ’s birth has come again,
Let us think of it, sing and praise Him, in joy or in pain!

Listen up because the time is now,
Come to the King and to Him bow,
Remember all the blessings He bestowed upon you
And do more what He says, all that you must do.

There may be many kings upon the earth
But none of them are as worthy as Christ the Lord
To receive praise, honor, wisdom, wealth
For none are greater, none are Christ the Word!

Let us come to Christ with our offerings,
Praise from our hearts, in sincerity offered.
We may endure for His sake sufferings
But He has much more for us all suffered!

Christ came to this earth, born in obscurity,
The prophets foretold His lowly birth so long before,
God has done what He promised, and does still more,
Truly He is a God of goodness and severity!

O let us celebrate the day of Christmas with joy
For the Lord showed us mercy, us didn’t destroy.
Many blessings we’ve received from Him, yes, all He gave us
So may all glory be to the King, Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus!

“Mentions of Mortality”

“Mentions of Mortality”

Hearken now, divine Savior and please tarry not to answer
Prayers of saints pleading that You remove sin the cancer!

Lord, mend the fractured structure,
Fragments shape to whole and cure
Sicknesses and diseases; let new life blood
Course through aged veins and let love flood.

Spiritual Savior, You’ve redeemed the soul from Hell!
Spiritual Benefactor, of Your greatness come to tell!
Great Physician, Your promises are always kept;
Your words never fail, nor are they left unkept!

Infirm flesh and the mortal kind,
Damaged frames and an old mind.
Temporary vessels to be used wisely,
May have seen before death closely.

Seasons of naievity end like winter,
Fast, almost unnoticeable, now enter
Seasons of acceptance of the reality
That we’re all born to a life of mortality.

Frail bones may tell the story of a life long lived
But not one moment of the past can be relived!

Will it like a story end sadly or happily?
Prone to pass like lightning, nigh silly
How easily a life can be taken away;
Mortal bodies taken out of life’s way!

Oh, decay is in the air;
We say that life is unfair.
O how temporary and soon ending is a human life,
Whether by natural cause, gun, pill, illness, or knife!

Lord, if You are not a life’s strength
Then it shall be lesser, shorter length.
God if You do not bless a person
Then they’ll have so little won!

Be the strength and life of the sick and weak!
Be the greatest treasure that they’ll ever seek!
All the glory belongs to You alone, Lord!
Inerrant and infallible is Your living Word!

“The End of the Year Approaches”

“The End of the Year Approaches”

We are only a number of days away from Christmas Day.
It seems like only yesterday we celebrated the last one.
We’re not realizing how fast time flies; gone’s yesterday.
These days too will pass by fast, they too will be gone.

God, You brought us hope!
(But are they reaching out
And are they calling out?)
God, You brought them hope!

This is a season of giving,
To give more than we’ve given,
To see what we’ve taken for granted,
To give more from ourselves, more of ourselves.

God, open our eyes to see what we’ve missed!
The year seems to have passed by just so fast,
It’s hard to believe not long ago we celebrated the last
And now we’re here at the close of another year.

Time moves slow,
Time moves fast
And it does show
Not all will last.

Time moves slow when we don’t want it to
And time moves fast when we don’t want it to.
Sometimes we don’t have enough time to do what we must do
And sometimes we waste time doing what we should not do.

“Ends For Starts”

“Ends For Starts”

Behold, the ends for starts have come,
Manifestations of the following actions,
The train of consequence has rushed in
But surely not without any warnings
For so many were given and none were heeded.

In contrast to a fool’s end,
A catalyst for newness came,
Rebirth of such a pitiful one,
Such a sight for all near and far,
New vision kindled to soften a heart.

In oblivion is not found anyone’s end
For the end of soul is something not given to any
So bleed in vain and go philosophize until an epiphany.

In vain strain your voice and labor long,
The sun shall burn your fields,
The storms will wreck your buildings all.
Now you can see that you weren’t one of the blessed,
For so long you’ve cursed the Maker of it all,
Your pretense of surprise is hollow,
Away with all your pathetic lies!
Know that it’s what you’ve chosen
So now the consequences have come,
You could never hide from it, try as you may have.

You came with nothing and that’s how you will leave
So say goodbye to everything you ever thought was yours
For it shall all be taken from your cold, dead hands,
Be sure of it, you really have nothing!

What use is your foolish pride,
Amuse us if but for a moment,
Tell us why you choose to continue in your folly?

You reject the only way to Heaven
And you stand in denial of Hell.
See, the clock is now at hour eleven,
Your death your end shall tell.

“The Lord, the Freedom”

“The Lord, the Freedom”

O Lord and Savior,
the King of kings
and Lord of lords,
He came to serve,
He came to give,
He came to die
A death that we deserve
For all our vile sins
To free us from them all,
Forgiveness, change, sanctification.
The Author and Perfector of our faith,
Our only hope, our life, our salvation!
Be sure of this: no matter what the great war looks like now
In the end God wins!

“Thoughts Upon Current Happenings”

Heavy are the scales over those eyes,
And many are the mind’s adopted lies.
Like a blind man, unable to see,
On the deadly path, one not free.

Departures make sorrow come
And oh how it is not welcome;
Silence in the sacred places,
Emptiness on so many faces.

“Helper, Healer, Lord”

“Helper, Healer, Lord”

Lord, help me to stand!
God I don’t understand
As much as I should
Nor do all that I could.

My strength is nothing
In comparison to Yours!
O I give You everything,
My praise to You pours!

You are my sight,
You are my light,
You are the truth,
You are the proof!

My God be praised forever,
You reign forever and ever.
Glory be all unto You, God most deserving;
You alone I shall wholly be forever serving!

Amidst my failures on the way
You are the great bright light that I see.
You wash all of my shame away;
In Your presence forever I want to be!

I cannot take a step if You will not be there;
Where You will, there I shall go, anywhere!
You’re the air I breathe, my very life, my all!
O Lord, I shall answer when You shall call!

“Past Years, Older Eyes”

7/18/14.
Written by: Victor P.

“Past Years, Older Eyes”

Where I have been
Now there not,
Not forgotten,
In mind even now.

The passing of years
Removed some fears
But some remain
And there’s pain
And experience and age,
Still on this life’s stage.

Where these feet have been
There now they’re not seen,
Just have memories of then,
The memories of a time when
The world seemed simpler
So unlike now and kinder
But perhaps that was perception
Set against reality, a conception
Of the world lived in then
Like a page in a book open
That must be brought to a close;
One road these feet already chose.
