“Warriors All”

“Warriors All”

Oh! We were all born to fight

But have we lost our strength?
If we lower our hands
We shall suffer defeat!

Yes, we were born for the light
But has the dark more length
Covering all our lands?
Our King we shall meet.

We are warriors all
But as beggars we call.
In our sins we fall;
Thought we were so tall.

What are we fighting for
And say how much more
Can we take and what do we make
Of tragedy we endure for His sake?

Are we loyal warriors
In the army of the Lord?
Be no more worriers;
Stand by the living Word!

Remember: from the kingdom of darkness
Our Lord has taken us; we were a mess
But He has saved, redeemed, cleansed us
And transferred us to His own Kingdom!

So many “contagious displays of latent iniquity
Are as evident now as they were in antiquity!
Behold those pitiful, wicked warriors of Satan:
The doomed, damned, finally impenitent men!
Note: Source of inspiration for the poem:

All men are warriors, every one, and by the eternal necessity of things they are in this world to suffer a final defeat, or gain an eternal conquest. There is no armistice; there is no retreat; there is no discharge from this war; it is victory, or it is death.
– Luther T. Townsend (from “Lost Forever” p.207)
