“Our Failing Walks”

Well just look what we’ve let be done
We watch as the world comes undone.

Safe within our homes, we don’t see them burn.
Safe behind our walls, we are soundly sleeping.
Aren’t we all such good people?
Bleeding hearts scream out and we sit,
Afraid of what it takes to make a move,
To step out of our comfort zones
And go into the places we’re called to go.
We’re like sleepers in saints’ robes.

Why do we fear a world that has been overcome
By the King of kings of the heavenly Kingdom?

We walk with a limp, we talk with a sting,
We sing and get an emotional fill for a few hours
And then go home and face the reality of what is
Beyond the walls we’ve built to hide inside
While the world dies; while the world burns!
Well aren’t we all so happy now?
Well aren’t we just good Christians?

We have our failures painted upon life’s canvas,
But still we must move on past what once was
And progressing with the flow of love
In our hearts, our eyes focus on above.

We cannot be silent when we must speak;
We must not give up when we must seek;
We cannot stop preaching the living word now,
Our life is more than we ourselves may allow.

When hateful breaths are breathed upon us,
Will we respond with equal force
Or act as we were called by our Lord?

When blasphemers bark their hate upon God
Shall keep keep silent or give our God all laud?

What are we doing when we’re in private?

Are we wearing the same face everywhere we go
Or are we pretending so acceptance we don’t forgo?

Let us be rather willing to please the Lord
Instead of seeking to please people.
May the name of the Lord be blessed forevemore.
