Behold our failing age
Standing on the stage;
An incongruous spectacle
And a modern receptacle
For things true and holy
Now discarded wholly.
You are not better than they are, return;
Go back to the place where you came from.
Don’t batter their ignorance at every turn.
Sacramental phrases from a dark kingdom.
You have erected your idols;
We’ll watch them burn down.
For you the death knell tolls;
Creature, remove your crown.
Your contempt for your lessers
Makes you no kind of blessers.
You’re the blind leading the blind,
Who are leaving your own behind.
You repudiate what is not in agreeance
With your fallible, finite mind’s view.
Rejecting much of what you review;
What then passes for your acceptance?
They didn’t pass through your doors,
They were not all given eyes like yours.
Later you’ll see how much regret pours.
Followers like you come in scores.
Though the world loves its own,
All will reap what they’ve sown.
When you die, knowledge won’t die with you,
There are plenty propagators of your view.
Believers hear these words:
Do not yield your testimony;
Do not hold it in abeyance.
Forget the fame and money;
Resume your conveyance.
Are you afraid to proclaim the old faith?
Are you afraid of what the world saith?
Is the gaze of the audience evoking in you pity
Or do your sins lead you to only try to be witty?
On yonder throne sits Jesus Christ the immortal
By the power of His word upholds things all.
Would you deny that’s He’s now there, alive
And shall return to make His people thrive?
The so-called wise men have perished in folly.
Are you like them living in delusions, so jolly?
We shall not give our young to your foolish sway;
We’ll stand against you until your kind fades away.
Am I making you uncomfortable? Good!
I want you to realize that the mental food
You are feeding on every day is unhealthy
Like a sickness that takes even the wealthy.]
