“Sad Youth Hear”

Incise your youth alone,
Speak in an angry tone,
The room where your worth
Was measured by the earth.

Drink sadness away
But try as you may
You shall not escape
Sin-ravaged landscape.

Inhaling your new sickness,
Conforming to the dust,
Feeding upon the lust,
What remains is emptiness.

Swallow numbness,
Imagined elevation,
Vain contemplation,
You only regress.

Coming down again,
Sharp stinging pain
Grips your throat now,
Escape somehow.

Breathe in false escape,
Illusions come to scrape
The callous on the heart,
Fail by playing the part.

Are you convicted of sin yet?
Are you tired of the regret?
What are you trying to forget?
Love lives if you will let.

Do you hear your soul crying for salvation?
Are you hopeless, confused, or desperate
At the point of being willing to separate
From the world of dry contemplation?

Come as you are, even if you have lost all control
Of your life, come now to the Savior of the soul,
You need Him more than you know,
His mercy and grace new life’ll show.
